The Professional Cloud Developer certification validates the ability to design, build, deploy, test, and manage highly scalable and reliable cloud-native applications on Google Cloud. The exam tests knowledge of designing secure applications, selecting and configuring storage and database services, building and testing application code, configuring deployments to Cloud Run and Google Kubernetes Engine, and integrating applications with Google Cloud services through Cloud APIs, messaging, and observability tooling. Candidates are assessed on their fluency with Google Cloud developer tooling (Cloud SDK, Cloud Build, Artifact Registry, Cloud Code, Cloud Workstations), AI-assisted development workflows (Gemini Code Assist, Gemini Cloud Assist, MCP servers), and the use of Apigee, API Gateway, Eventarc, Pub/Sub, Workflows, Cloud Tasks, and Cloud Scheduler to architect resilient applications.
